No one will complain about a man being healed, will they? There will be great rejoicing, right? He’s been lame for 38 years, and now is healed.
He is Healed🎉🎉
John 5:9-16
9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath.
10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”
11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’ ”
12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?”
13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place.
14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath.

Oh, but it was the Sabbath Day.v9 Who cares what day he was healed? The important thing is, he is healed! But not to the Jewish leaders.v10 This man should be resting, not carrying his bed. God did tell them not to work on the Sabbath. Religious leaders added rules that prohibited carrying a bed on the day of rest.
These self imposed judges want to know who told the man to carry his bed.v12 The man doesn’t know who Jesus is yet.v13 Jesus finds him in the temple, introduces Himself, & urges the man to avoid sin that could bring even greater harm to him.v14
When the Jews hear Jesus healed the man, they give Him a hard time and even seek to kill Him.v15&16
It is very easy to judge others, to impose our thoughts & desires on them. This story reminds us to be careful of such. Judging others, in God’s name, can greatly distort our perspectives. Regrets come from wrongly pushing our perspectives on others. Are my guidelines for life God made or man made? Do they help people, or have they become needless stumbling blocks?
