Where am I focused on what others are doing & saying, instead of honestly addressing “my true failures” & the true issues God is bringing to my attention?👀
Facing Weaknesses Honestly😳
John’s Gospel 4:16-20
16 Jesus said to her, “ Go call your husband, and come here.”
17 The woman answered and said , “I have no husband,” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband’
18 “for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”
19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 “Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”
Ben’s comments:
We can’t hid anything from God’s Son. Wow, Jesus asks to meet her husband, knowing she has had 5 and is now with a 6th man.v16-18
Jesus is direct but not malicious. Will she be honest with Him?
She changes the subject to religion. v19-20 It is always easier to talk about what other people think is right, rather than to admit our failed attempts to be satisfied.
I have seen wrestlers all focused on their techniques and favorite training methods, instead of dealing with their weaknesses, their failures & straight hard conditioning. They could shorten down their practices, they could relieve much stress, if they would just deal with the basics of getting better and improving on their failures from the past matches. Instead, we often do more of we have always done. The truth of the matter is we need to clearly admit our weaknesses, attack them, ask questions of coaches & people who know us well. We may feel uncomfortable, but we will learn & improve.
