REGISTRATION & FEES: Please review each of the tournament event pages for the registration fee. Online registration is Tuesday by midnight prior to each scheduled event, no exceptions. Check for earlybird savings when applicable. Confirmation WILL NOT be given by phone. Those who register online will receive a receipt when you pay via email. RMN Events does not charge extra for insurance at any of our events.
REGISTRATION CHANGES: RMN Event's new tournament registration system now allows registrants the convenience of making weight changes at weigh-ins for no penalty.
LATE REGISTRATIONS: Registrations after deadline are assessed additional fees. We encourage you to register before the deadline to save yourself time and money. Late registration is only available at select events. If the event is sold out early, there will be no opportunity to register late. NOTE: Registering after the deadline may cause us to create a new bracket, thus awards may or may not display a specific age & weight. This may also apply to wrestlers that are challenged with being very light or heavy.
Refunds: RMN Events does not offer refunds but can transfer any funds not used to a future RMN Event. Please note: credit transfers do not count towards events that RMN Events operates with other organizations (D-Day and Freakshow).
SKIN CHECKS: If you have a current skin condition for which you have been medically cleared, please bring the NFHS Medical Clearance form and a doctor's note to Skin Checks. the weigh-in official or Tournament Director will have the final determination on whether a skin condition is noncontagious, thereby allowing the athlete to participate. Please trim or Cut your fingernails to the appropriate length prior to Skin Checks (you should not be able to feel the edge when you press in at the fingertip).
WEIGH-INS: Wrestlers are required (NO EXCEPTIONS) to weigh in with a singlet or 2-piece Wrestling Uniform designed for wrestling and approved by the NFHS.
COMPETITION: Long Sleeve Shirts are NOT allowed unless a medical condition exists. Please bring medical form stating the required need for the long sleeve shirt to the assistant head or head official to verify. The assistant head or head will inform each mat official that your athlete will be on of the allowance of the long sleeve shirt.
WEIGHT ALLOWANCE: 12 & under receives a .2 tenths of a Lbs. allowance only, 13 & Above receive a 2.2 lbs. Allowance.
In an effort to start all of our scheduled events on time, we encourage all wrestlers to make their pre-registered weight; by doing so, the event will start on time.
PROOF OF AGE: State-issued BIRTH CERTIFICATE or the most current REPORT CARD required in case of protest. Additionally, the 18-&-Under or high school division age group requires that you are a high school eligible wrestler. The fee to file an age group protest is $50; it will be refunded if the protest prevails.
BRACKETS: Will be posted on arena.flowrestling.org the Friday before before the event by midnight.
RMN Events does our best to not allow 2-man brackets; therefore, expect your wrestler to be combined in this circumstance. We also do not award trophies or medals to those wrestlers who are moved up or down to create a new weight bracket.
DOUBLE BRACKETING: Double Bracketing is allowed in the same age group or an older age group. For Example: 8 & Under 54 lbs. & 58 lbs. or 8 & Under 54 & 10 & Under 53 lbs. If you double bracket, the 15-minute rest period does not apply; you have one match to rest after you report for your match in the second bracket.
COMBINED WEIGHTS: RMN Events reserves the right to combine weights. If the wrestlers also want to combine weights, we will do our best to accommodate them. If weights are combined, RMN Events does not give the 1st Place award to a wrestler who was moved to the next weight. Wrestlers must take 1st Place in their respective weight class in order to receive a 1st Place award.
HEAVYWEIGHT (HWT) 20% SAFETY RULE: To ensure athlete safety and fair competition, RMN Events enforces a maximum 20% weight variance rule within all Heavyweight divisions. The heaviest competitor in a single bracket cannot weigh more than 20% above the lightest competitor in that same bracket.
Example: If the lightest wrestler in a Heavyweight bracket weighs 100 lbs, the maximum weight allowed for any other competitor in that specific bracket is 120 lbs.
Bracket Separation: If the weight spread among registered heavyweights exceeds 20%, the division will automatically be split into separate safety brackets. Final bracket determinations cannot be made until all official tournament weigh-ins are fully completed.
COACHES PASSES: Coaches receive (1) coaching pass for every 5 wrestlers that are pre-registered. Important note: Coaches may only pick up their free bands during weigh-ins times or on morning of the event at the admission table (WILL CALL). Individual coaches may purchase a pass online, weigh-ins, or at the door.
REST PERIOD: Fifteen-minute (15) rest period between matches will be honored. Referees will check hair, skin and fingernails. Those who choose to double-bracket DO NOT get a 15-minute break.
Head Gear: Headgear is MANDATORY for ages 13 and under. It is optional for 15U and older participants. Mouthpieces for braces are strongly recommended but not required.
RULES: National Federation High School (NFHS) Rules apply with RMN Modifications.
HEAD INJURIES: It is the Trainers decision on a wrestlers ability to wrestler after a concussion has been diagnosed.
PROTEST & VIDEO REVIEW:
1. approach the mat scoring table to seek an equitable resolution with the Official.
2. Only rule interpretations, scoring, or timing issues may be considered.
3. Ask in the form of a question, not a statement. Falls and points awarded are an official’s judgment and may not be challenged.
If, after meeting with the mat official, you have further questions, you may ask for the Lead Official (POD, > Assistant head > Head Official).
Both wrestlers and coaches must remain on the mat until the matter is resolved.
The Lead Official may elect to review a situation based on the criterial checklist.
Once the Lead Official arrives at a decision, it is final. Once a winner has been declared and the wrestlers have left the wrestling area, no further changes may be made.
Must be present to win: Unfortunately, we have a strict must-be-present-to-win policy, therefore we do not ship awards. If you are attending a future RMN Events, just let us know a week in advance and we will make sure we bring the previous award with us. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

ARIZONA
The rule below was forwarded to us in reference to the Grand Canyon Nationals. According to the AIA, an Arizona High School Wrestler may compete under these guidelines:
1. Arizona High School wrestler(s) may not represent his/her school with a school singlet or name.
2. The high school may not pay for the Arizona high school wrestler's registration fee.
3. A high school coach may not coach his wrestlers or team.
4. A high school coach cannot make the tournament mandatory.
RULING from AIA:
14.1 NONSCHOOL PARTICIPATION
A student who is a member of a school team shall not practice or compete with any other group, club, organization, association, etc., in that sport during the interscholastic season of competition. This rule applies to the following team sports: football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, track relay and swimming relay teams. For purposes of this rule, the interscholastic season of competition shall begin with the first regularly scheduled game and conclude with that particular team's final game. Any student violating the above rule shall forfeit his/her eligibility for a minimum of the balance of the season for that sport or up to a maximum of one calendar year.
Attendance at summer activities shall be voluntary and no student athlete shall be prohibited from participating on athletic teams for failing to attend the summer activities.
14.2 INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION

CALIFORNIA
Below is the CIF Bylaw 600-601 regarding outside competition. All of the tournaments listed above fall into the CIF season of sport for wrestling and the athletes would only be allowed to attend fully sanctioned high school meets representing their team. The athlete is able to compete unattached in certain types of competitions. Please refer to the bylaws below for further clarification.
600. COMPETITION ON AN OUTSIDE TEAM
A student on a high school team becomes ineligible if the student competes in a contest on an “outside” team, in the same sport, during the student’s high school season of sport (See Bylaw 504.A).
G. Unattached Competition in Individual Sports
(1) An unattached athlete shall not represent any team. Points won by the athlete shall not be credited to any team. An unattached athlete shall not use a uniform which identifies a school or “outside” team. Any violation shall be considered an infraction of Bylaw 600.
(2) Unattached competition is permissible for a student in other than school contests during the season of sport provided the student enters in the individual sports of badminton (singles and doubles), cross country, golf, gymnastics, skiing, swimming and diving (including unattached entry on relays), tennis (singles and doubles), track and field (including unattached entry on relays) and wrestling.
(3) Certification of Unattached Athletes
No official recognition or certification on the part of the CIF member school or personnel of the CIF member school may be given in order that unattached athletes may participate in contests.
(4) Representation in CIF Competition
Unattached competition is not permitted in any CIF competition (See Bylaw 503.D.). Individuals or teams entered in CIF competition must represent a CIF member school. No other form of representation shall be permitted in CIF competition.
601. PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF BYLAW 600

(3) Appeals

HS Girls Division Dual Meet Competitors please note: (specific to USA Showcase)

2) Each competitor must meet minimum academic and school eligibility requirements.

Weights:
101, 106, 111, 116, 121, 126, 131, 137, 143, 150, 160, 170, 189, HWT
COLORADO
CHSAA has a winter prohibition period, where no coach or faculty member may have contact with student athletes from the school. This year, those dates are December 24-27 and January 1st. Additionally, coaches cannot have contact with athletes on any Sunday.
Outside of that, if a student is participating in RMN events, and it is during the scholastic season, those athletes should get written permission to participate in a non-school event from their coach and AD or principal. That can be documented on CHSAA Form 24 and that form should be kept on file at the school.
Coaches who coach both club and high school should be aware of the CHSAA bylaws and how those may affect athletes if a high school athlete chooses to transfer schools to be in the same school as his/her coach is. There are eligibility implications in the case of every transfer that happens, so coaches and athletes should read up on those bylaws and discuss a possible transfer with the AD prior to the transfer happening.
The CIAC permits wrestlers competing on a member schools wrestling team to participate in four events on an "unattached" basis. Prior to a given school's first scheduled wrestling match, a wrestler on that school's team may participate in any event he/she chooses. After the school's first match, then that student-athlete may participate in four events on an unattached basis. That four-meet limitation starts with a school's first wrestling event and goes to that individual's final match for that season. After an individual student-athlete's last wrestling event, he/she may again participate in any outside event chosen.
For the 2017-2018 wrestling season, practices may officially begin on November 27 and the first allowable match may take place on December 11, 2018. Schools may opt to have their first match any time after December 10, 2018.
Idaho high school athletes can only participate in IHSAA sanctioned events against students from member schools from other states. The season runs from November 13, 2017 through February 24, 2018.
Wrestlers competing for IHSA member school teams would not be able to participate in events dated November 13, 2017 through your last tournament listed above. The same would be true for corresponding dates in years to come.
Student / Athletes are not permitted to compete in outside competition, during the school season. Once a member of the school team, then you are not permitted to compete in an outside event until the school season has concluded. Girls competing for their high school are under the same requirements, as they are members of the school team.
Five of the events listed are during the MHSAA (Michigan) wrestling season: Grand Canyon through Wild West. Attached is a link to a brochure with a summary of MHSAA eligibility regulations that may assist. It is also linked below from our website. Three quick points that may assist:
Under the MHSAA Limited Team Membership Rule, in wrestling, once a student wrestles in a contest for their school, a student is allowed two non-school events, during the season, where they are not connected to their school or coach. A student could attend an event (or two) under this allowance.
None of the five events appear to be National High School Championship Event or All-Star Event which are not permitted under the rules at any time for students who wish to continue eligibility.
We remind participants that they should also follow the amateur stats and awards rule. No valuable consideration (merchandise, negotiable certificates, or gear) that is not included in the entry fee. A symbolic award may not exceed $ 25 plus engraving or embroidery. A T-shirt or clothing has been considered a symbolic award for the purpose of this rule.
The high school season start date is October 30 and the end date is February 17. This defines the “during the season” period for our state. A high school wrestler may participate in a maximum of 2 non-school competitions during the season with approval from their school administration. This allowance would allow high school wrestlers in Missouri to participate in two non-school wrestling competitions during the wrestling season in which they are representing their school team.
If the school administration does not approve a wrestler to participate in said non-school competition, then the student cannot attend. A school coach cannot coach on their wrestlers at a non-school competition during the high school season.
The starting date for the MHSA wrestling season is November 16, 2017 and the season ends on February 10, 2018. All of the events you have listed on your events occur during the MHSA wrestling season, so the following rules would apply to MHSA teams and their participants.
Because RMN events are not sanctioned by the NFHS, MHSA wrestling teams would not be allowed to attend these events. Also, teams are not allowed to attend a club event where they are coached by the same high school coach or coaching staff. This is a circumvention of several MHSA rules and would not be allowed.
As far as individual Montana wrestlers who are competing for MHSA high schools, they are allowed to attend your events during their season as long as the follow requirements are followed: the student-athlete must complete unattached to any school.
The student-athlete must follow the MHSA Amateur and Awards Rule. The amateur rule states they cannot receive any monies over and above the actual expenses for the trip and they must document all the expenses. The MHSA Awards rule states they cannot receive any awards over $100 in value per event and never can receive cash.
The school and/or booster club cannot have any involvement with financing this student-athlete. The local school may have a policy for their team member about competition during the season for a club team. You would want to ensure each athlete has approval from their coach to attend.
Thanks for your email and if you have any questions, please contact Brian Michelotti: (406) 442-6010, bmichelotti@mhsa.org.
During the high school season, separate from team-scheduled events, wrestlers are allowed to compete in outside competition. The stipulation is that they would not be able to represent their respective high school and the school could not provide support to that individual.
Individual competitors:
May compete as an individual or with a club, but not as a representative of ANY school team.
May not wear any singlet or other piece of equipment which identifies a participant with a school.
May need permission of high school coach to participate if it is during the high school season which begins November 11, 2017.
The high school athletic winter season is October 30, 2017 – Feb 17, 2018. Anything outside of this (excluding summer – roughly Memorial Day thru mid-August), our coaches cannot coach them due to our out-of-season coaching regulations. In-season there are no coaching regulations; however, any individual non-school competition that coincides with our regular season counts against the individual’s competition limits.
Any collegiate style wrestling open tournament held after November 30 and until the completion of the state wrestling tournament in which a school coach is coaching either directly or indirectly a school team or members of a school team would count against the school’s and/or individual’s regular season schedule. A violation of this rule could cause a student to lose eligibility and a coach to be suspended.
A student-athlete competing unattached in a non-sanctioned event would be out of the state association’s jurisdiction. Any such participation must be independent of their school and/or school program which would include being coached by school personnel. The OSSAA Wrestling Manual is available on the OSSAA website.
Wrestlers in Oregon may participate in the events listed as an “unattached” competitor:
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE “UNATTACHED”?
A participant is unattached if:
Participant is not designated as representing a member school within entry or results reports.
Participant pays all entry fees, meals, lodging, and other expenses related to the event.
Participant is responsible to arrange and pay costs associated with transportation to and from the event.
Participant does not wear a school uniform during competition.
Specific OSAA policy related to this topic is listed below:
4. ATTACHED AND UNATTACHED COMPETITION / EXHIBITION (Revised August 2012)
Following is the policy regarding attached and unattached competition:
A. A high school team shall not compete against an unattached team (e.g., club team).
B. Students representing a high school shall not compete against unattached individuals.
C. Students shall not represent a high school and participate in a competition or exhibition as unattached on the same day at the same venue/facility.
Competition between unattached and “attached” individuals is an OSAA rule violation and we do fine our member schools when these interactions occur, regardless of reason.
SDHSAA by-laws strictly regulate non-school participation. Any athlete who is part of a SDHSAA High School program would have to forfeit 4 weigh-ins (4 events) for participation in any one of these events, and a second event participated in would end their HS season eligibility.
