which we all can use.

   Request from a University wrestler:

“How can I have confidence in my matches going into the season? I put so much of my life into a sport and it all comes down to 7 minutes. I always say a prayer before matches, but I struggle to stay relaxed, composed, and confident for those big matches. Any advice?"

Yes, in 4 parts:

#1 Confidence comes with diligent, wise practice, where you’ve been thinking about competition prep. Have you been thinking about “getting better,” learning & helping your team? Or are you only thinking of being the Star, the Champion, or never losing. Think of improving, of learning & doing better everyday. Credit yourself as you advance. Be relentless in this pursuit. Remember that it will take steps, for it is a process to get to the top Championship.

#2 “All comes down to 7 minutes…” That is life!Embrace it, make every 1 the best 7 of your life. Don’t think you're the greatest when you win, nor think you are worthless when you lose. Seek what is good, right & best. Then compliment yourself.

#3 “I say a prayer.” Why do you pray? As a good luck charm? We all have.

Before each event is a good time to acknowledge our dependence on God, to ask God to clean our soul of sin, stress & doubt. Practice prayer, learn to talk to God with honesty.

#4 Take a lot of deep breaths & practice at relaxing, but know adrenaline is high & that is good. God made adrenaline to help us in the big serious events of life. But we must learn to control it, save it & use it wisely. Become a master at using adrenaline. All champions do.

Do you go to practice with excitement, with adrenaline? I recommend going to practice excited & ready to make good things happen. Don’t just go waiting for the coach to motivate you & direct every aspect of practice. Go ready to do extra. Thank your coach for the opportunity, laugh & enjoy it with your teammates. Express excitement & you will build adrenaline that will help you practice at a higher level and then you practice using that energy. Stay excited. Enjoyment takes away stress.

Practice this in prepping for every event in life & then, Enjoy📣
