NM Gold is looking to go for a 3-peat at the New Mexico Showdown this year in Rio Rancho, N.M. They have won the past two years and are very excited to win again and keep the tradition going.

The coaches from NM Gold have a recipe that includes hard work, discipline, and basic wrestling fundamentals. “We always tell the kids it the small things in the moves that big difference when it comes to a match, details are very important.”

The team’s style of wrestling is called Rubalcaba-style wrestling. It incorporates an aggressive shooting attack from neutral. On top, the kids execute tilts, run a bar arm or just use a half nelson to turn you to your back. On bottom, the kids will usually go to their stand up and score one point.

NM Gold is no stranger to traveling; they are well-respected across the nation and travel the RMN circuit year in and year out. If you attend an RMN event, and NM Gold is there, you are guaranteed to see them in as team champs, or at a minimum in the top five or top ten.

NM gold coaches are proud of their kids’ hard work. They are thankful for parents and kids who believe in their program.

NM Gold has worked hard to put the state of New Mexico on the wrestling map in the nation. One metaphor that is used by NM Gold coaches is “Blood, Sweat, and Tears!!!”

Wrestling is the toughest sport – to compete at a national level, we need to make sure that we prepare our kids to the fullest.

NM Gold looks forward to welcoming teams who travel across the nation to compete in their home state. Just see if you can stop NM Gold from securing its 3-peat!!!
