*I shared following thoughts.

Ordinary Parents👨‍👩‍👦 Luke 2:19 “Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.”

As a parent I have often thought of Joseph & Mary. What were their thoughts when the angel Gabriel visited them & told them of the unique birth of Jesus? What did they discuss in later conversations. When I think of the discussions Jan & I had over the birth of our 4 children, I know those talks were serious.

Hearing from the shepherds & how angels appeared to them caused Mary to “ponder.” What about after wisemen follow a star for weeks just to see Jesus? What about taking Jesus to Egypt to protect him from king Herod? A parent takes such events seriously.

What about when Jesus was 12 & came up missing for three days while they were at the temple? How are you going to explain, “We lost God‘s Son?” Being a parent can be intense.

I think it’s good for us to imagine what it was like for two people like us, to be asked by God to be the mother and guardian of God’s Son. Life can be intense, and certainly theirs was.

Amazing, God asked 2 real people to mother & guardian His Son. They were not angels, but limited, even sinful like us. But, they raised Him. Jesus experienced every limitation of life, just like you & me. His parents weren’t perfect either. But, they were perfect parents for Him. I can identify withthat🤔
